Product Review: Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X

There has been an exciting new advancement in the ever changing world of mobile technology. Well we get pretty excited about it, so we thought we might share with you.
In early 2015, Telstra is launching its new Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X: It’s a world first. Like any good wireless mobile device it allows you to connect all of your wireless devices to the web while on the move. The thing that makes this device unique is that it supports the new LTE Category 6 technology.
What is that exactly? With the end of analog frequencies for TV and radio channels and with the move to digital, a wider range of frequencies have become available. Telstra is currently testing and designing a range of products and services that will be able to support a 700MHz spectrum, which will be launched in early 2015.
Today, the current Telstra Advanced Pro X device – which works on the Telstra’s 4G 1800MHz – supports internet speeds of between 2 Mbps to 50 Mbps in 4G areas.
Theoretically, with the roll out of the new LTE Category 6 technology, maximum speeds of 300Mbps are to be expected. Basically, it will be a LOT faster.
We like the Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X because, as stated earlier, like all good mobile internet devices, you can carry it with you on the move. It’s got all the good stuff that you would expect with a device like this:
- The ability to link in to Telstra’s billing system to monitor usage
- Displays Wi-Fi names
- Signal strength and battery levels at a glance etc
It’s got some new features too:
- 10 hours of battery life
- ‘Reverse charge’ your smart phone
- Up to 10 mobile devices connected with it at a time. This is handy if you are working with your team outside the office, or traveling around and need to connect
- It supports both PC and Mac devices
